Although Hungarians’ daily spending rose in 2013, total spending on domestic tourism was little changed from 2012 as both the number of trips and the time spent declined considerably, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said in a fresh publication.

Back then, Hungary, particularly Lake Balaton, was a popular summer destination for tourists from East Germany and other parts of the eastern bloc but a little off the beaten path for most others. Wizz Air, the largest low-fare, low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, today celebrated the grand opening of the new Wizz Air Flight Simulator and Training Center located at Ferenc Liszt International Airport.
