On 15 March 1848, as part of the wave of revolutions sweeping across Europe, a revolution broke out in Pest-Buda.
This year, main events of the national holiday will begin on March 14, with the Kossuth and Szechenyi awards being presented in Parliament. The Hungarian flag will be raised in Kossuth Square at 7.30am on March 15, and a commemorative ceremony will begin at the same location at 1pm, including PM's speech.
