Hungary's Together 2014 Invites LMP To Join
The Together 2014 movement on Wednesday asked LMP to open accession negotiations. Homeland and Progress Foundation president Gordon Bajnai, Milla Association president Peter Juhasz and Hungarian Solidarity Movement president Peter Konya addressed a letter to LMP leader Benedek Javor and all officials of the party's national council, Together announced.

Together appended a document containing its moral principles to the letter. Regarding dual citizenship it says that yet another deprivation of rights for ethnic Hungarians abroad cannot be the foundation for a new political era. It seeks to make public state security documents, thus repaying a 20-year debt. The document also calls for a referendum to confirm the “constitutional culture for a new era.”

Together would also enhance the openness of public procurements to end corruption risks. “Foreign servicing companies must not be chased away but forced to engage in fair competition,” the document states. It calls for fighting against monopolies and protecting consumer interests more effectively.

Together wants to transform education, noting that reducing the number of students serves no good as only children of society’s upper strata can pursue higher education.

It opposes segregation of Roma and non-Roma children. It is unacceptable that some people are open to exposure, famine and homelessness. Domestic Roma must be advanced in one generation.

Together finds the nationalisation of private pension funds unacceptable.

EU membership means that a country campaigns within the EU for national interests but only “if we set ourselves the goal of asserting interests in a civilised way instead of continuing to fight for a domestic political goal against our allies,” the document adds.

LMP will hold its national congress on November 17 and 18.
