Szabó & Tarlós At Odds On Homeless In Hungary
Hasty, lightning-fast urban policy and moves by the authorities are not the answer to the problem of homelessness, ombudsman Máté Szabó declared on Sunday. He recalled the November Constitutional Court ruling that struck down the classification of regular use of public areas as a misdemeanour.

In reply, Budapest mayor István Tarlós said he would like to visit the Ferenciek tere underpass with Szabó, as the situation is increasingly urgent.

Szabó made his remarks after visiting underpasses in Budapest. He acknowledged that more people choose to live on public areas than when they were fined by police before the court ruling.
