Hungary’s PM József Antall’s 20th Death Anniversary To Be Marked
Commemorations will be held to pay tribute to József Antall, Hungary’s prime minister between 1990-93, on Thursday, the 20th anniversary of his death. Péter Boross, who became prime minister after Antall’s death, told MTI on the eve of the anniversary that Antall was a “well-prepared, calm politician who contributed to the long-term interests of the nation”.

He also attributed the success of the Hungarian Democratic Forum, which won the first free elections, to the charisma of Antall, its leader.

Antall (1932-1993) was the first freely elected prime minister of Hungary at the helm of a conservative government after the fall of the country’s communist regime.
