Hungarians Kertész &  Rubik To Be Awarded Saint Stephen’s Order
Nobel laureate for literature Imre Kertész and inventor Ernő Rubik will be presented the Hungarian Order of Saint Stephen, the highest state award, this year, the prime minister’s press chief said on Monday. The award is given to personalities with undisputable international recognition, who have further improved Hungary’s reputation in the world, Bertalan Havasi said.

The award was originally founded by Queen Maria Theresa in 1764. It was discontinued after 1946 and reinstated in 2011. Earlier radical nationalist Jobbik party protested against presenting the award to Kertész.
