Highest Alert Activated Concerning Extreme Heat in Hungary
The Hungarian authorities will activate the highest heat alert from Friday to midnight on Monday.

The heat alert already in effect is to be extended and raised to level three nationwide, the national public health and the disaster management authorities said in a statement on Thursday.

Risk groups include young children, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with cardiovascular disease.

In light of the heat wave and the recent dry period, a fire ban is still in force in seven counties, the statement said.

Temperatures are expected of between 32 and 38 C, cooling to 16-23 C. at dawn, it added.
