Busójárás in Mohács is a Six Day Winter Festival in Hungary

From 12 to 17 February, the southern town of Mohács fills with people wearing hand-carved wooden masks and heavy sheepskins. Cowbells ring constantly. Fires burn along the Danube.

This UNESCO-recognized event celebrates Šokac (South Slavic) heritage with parades, bonfires, dances, crafts, and folk performances. Highlights include busó boat crossings on the Danube, processions, mask-carving demos, and the burning of a winter coffin. Expect markets, music, and family activities across central squares like Széchenyi tér.
