Egyptian National Day Celebration in Budapest

The international community in Hungary gathered at the residence of Ambassador Mohamed El Shinawy in Budapest's 2nd district, where they celebrated the National Day of the Arab Republic of Egypt. In particular the event commemorated the July 1952 and the June 2013 revolutions in Egypt.

In his opening speech, the Ambassador emphasized the strength of Egyptian-Hungarian relations and expressed optimism for the potential of further enhancing the economic ties between the two countries. Also in his address he said,

"I want to seize this opportunity to inform you that Egyptair currently operates 4 direct flights per week from Budapest to Cairo, in addition to other direct flights operated by other companies to other destinations in Egypt. Moreover, Wizzair will start operating flights from Budapest to Cairo from October 2023.

I also want to thank my friends and colleagues from the diplomatic community and from the Hungarian business community and the media, I want as well to thank those who have joined us from the Egyptians living in Hungary, and definitely, I want to thank my wife Ingy and my colleagues of the Embassy."


Minister of Defence Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, representing the Hungarian government, extended a warm welcome to the attendees. He highlighted the shared perspectives between the two governments on various matters and announced his upcoming visit to Egypt to meet his military counterpart.
