As the result of a Hungarian initiative the Art Nouveau World Day has been celebrated since 2013, and is already part of the official programme of the international Art Nouveau organisation Réseau Art Nouveau Network. On this day, several institutions from all over the world join in a series of programmes presenting this characteristic architectural and decorative style of the turn of the century.

The old Post Service building at Budapest’s Moscow Square will be converted into a luxury office building at a cost of some HUF 7 billion (USD 25.5 million), reports Hungarian daily Magyar Nemzet. The buyer is reported to be none other than the National Bank of Hungary’s (MNB) scandal-ridden Pallas Athéné foundations.
