Opening Concert: 4th Budapest International Choral Celebration

At the International Gala that opens this festival on 1 July, many different kinds of choral music performed by the very finest choirs around will present the colourful culture of the choral world and its varied repertoire. Have you ever wondered what it might be like to sing together with several hundred other people? Come and test your abilities as a choral singer, or simply as a spectator and take part in this three-day celebration, which focuses on the joy of singing and features, in addition to concerts by Hungarian and international choirs, collective singing and a Midsummer Night's celebration. In the first part of the opening concert, we will get to hear an a cappella programme presented by five choirs. The second part of the concert will feature the first part of a version of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana scored for two pianos and percussion instruments with songs about the vicissitudes of fortune, the awakening of spring, and the carefree play of young people in a spring meadow.
