Coca-Cola, Spar, Lidl & Aldi All Slammed by Hungarian Minister
Construction and Transport Minister János Lázár promised stricter rules on food quality on Wednesday, after Coca-Cola acknowledged that the soft drink Fanta sold in Hungary contains less orange than in Western Europe.

Writing on Facebook, he said “the authority that accepts the explanation of the manufacturer that it is responding to local, Hungarian needs is not fit for purpose. The same goes for those who kowtow to these companies for a few more investments, favouring that over the health of Hungarians,” he argued.

“Spar, Lidl, and Aldi are dominating the market and have taken over everything and they are only interested in one thing: selling as many things that make Hungarian people vulnerable as possible".

“Foreign chains often try to dump on us the rubbish that is unsellable in Western Europe. The dumping of food industry waste - which is not a commercial issue but a public health issue - can only be kept under control by strong regulation,” Lázár wrote.
