Cherry Blossom / Sakura Festival, Budai Arboretum Budapest, 4 - 5 @ 12 April
- 21 Mar 2025 6:25 AM

From the Arboretum Team:
The Japanese cherry blossom is a national symbol of Japan and an integral part of Japanese identity. Its blooming is considered one of the most significant events of the year. Amidst the sea of petals drifting in the wind, we can momentarily forget our everyday lives while marveling at the incredible diversity of species and varieties.
Surrounded by the fresh green foliage of April, magnolias, vibrant tulips, daffodils, and countless other spring flowers, we uncover the secrets and history of the arboretum. Wandering through rock gardens, evergreens, and rare plants, we visit the oldest trees in the arboretum—some over 120 years old—each with its own unique story.
Alongside the wooded and park-like walkways, historic buildings stand as silent witnesses to the past. The Budai Arboretum has long been home to an important horticultural school, later evolving into a university campus. These buildings are not only valuable in themselves but also hold hidden treasures. During our walk, we will step through their doors and explore the fascinating remnants of the second half of the last century.
