Rockmaraton Festival, Dunaújváros, 2 - 5 July
Still buzzing from recent rock gigs in Budapest and craving more? Head to the Rockmaraton Festival, Hungary’s only festival dedicated exclusively to rock and metal bands, happening 2–5 July. Get ready for three stages, 32 international and 42 Hungarian acts, and four days of pure sonic mayhem in Dunaújváros.

Among this year’s headliners:

  • Bullet For My Valentine, the modern metalcore powerhouse from Wales

  • Powerwolf, who fill arenas with their theatrical heavy metal

  • Running Wild, returning to Hungary after 35 years, and

  • King Diamond, an icon of the heavy metal scene.

But that’s just the beginning. Nearly 30 more international acts will tear up the stage, including:

  • Mongolian folk-metal phenomenon The HU

  • Bury Tomorrow, back with brutal new tracks

  • Soulfly, led by the legendary Max Cavalera

  • Speed metal heroes DragonForce, aka the “Nintendo metal” band

  • Italian symphonic power-metallers Rhapsody Of Fire

  • German legends Brainstorm and Grave Digger – playing back-to-back on the final day

  • US glam-metal favourites Steel Panther

  • Nordic gothic supergroup Cemetery Skyline

  • Visions Of Atlantis, fronted by vocalist Clémentine Delauney

  • UK power-metallers Gloryhammer

  • French anime-obsessed crossover act Rise Of The Northstar

  • Warmen, featuring Children of Bodom’s keyboardist and Ensiferum’s vocalist

  • And Siamese, blending metalcore with R&B and pop.

In the H-Music Hall, fans of the underground scene can dive deep into heavy and extreme genres, with performances from:

  • Cancer, the old-school thrashers active again since 2013 and back with a new album this April

  • Swedish death metal outfit LIK

  • Doom rockers Avatarium, originally formed with the help of Leif Edling (Candlemass)

  • Doom/gothic pioneers My Dying Bride

  • Russian folk metal leaders Arkona

  • Viking metallers Varg

  • NYC hardcore legends Pro-Pain

  • Death metal icons Massacre

  • Memoriam, formed by the ex-vocalist of Bolt Thrower

  • Gothic rock/metal band Unto Others

  • And east bay hardcore group Filth.

And of course, Hungary’s own rock and metal scene will be out in full force. Expect a strong homegrown line-up featuring top acts like Tankcsapda, Road, Ossian, and Depresszió, alongside respected underground names and up-and-coming bands.
