Oscar-Winner Redmayne Spotted in Budapest, Again
Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne is back in town, shooting season 2 of 'The Day of the Jackal'. He was recently spotted in Budapest's 8th District at a popular hangout for arty expats called Csiga Cafe, which has been renamed “Baroneasa” for the film production.

Bystanders noticed more than Mr. Redmayne. Campaign posters featuring Romanian candidates' names covered the Rákóczi Square in Budapest. These props, printed in Romanian, urged votes for fictional politicians.

The fake posters stood out amid Hungary's own intense election campaign. With parliamentary elections set for April 12, the made-up names created a distracting contrast to the real Hungarian candidates on display nearby.

Street signs, names, and changes at the back entrance of Rákóczi metro station suggest that season 2 of The Day of the Jackal will transport viewers to Chisinau, Moldova, right in the middle of an election season.

The Day of the Jackal centers on a slippery professional assassin called the Jackal, who executes high-profile killings across Europe while dodging intelligence agencies hot on his trail. The series mixes political intrigue with high-stakes espionage, set in various international spots.

Budapest has been central to the show before, as several scenes from season 1 were filmed in the Hungarian capital.
