Skrillex, born Sonny John Moore on 15 January 1988 in Los Angeles, is an American DJ, producer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in modern electronic music.
Often called the “King of Dubstep,” he played a central role in bringing dubstep and brostep into the mainstream, especially in the United States, with his aggressive, bass-heavy sound and unforgettable drops.
He first gained attention as the lead vocalist of the post-hardcore band From First to Last before launching his solo electronic career under the Skrillex name in 2008.
His 2010 EP Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites became a breakthrough moment, helping to define the sound of 2010s EDM and earning him multiple Grammy Awards.
Over the years, Skrillex has collected nine Grammys, the most of any electronic artist, and has collaborated with a wide range of artists including Justin Bieber, Diplo (as Jack Ü), Kanye West, FKA twigs, and many others.
Known for his high-energy live shows and genre-blending productions that fuse elements of dubstep, electro house, trap, drum and bass, and even rock and emo influences, Skrillex remains a major force in global dance music and a key architect of the modern EDM landscape.
