The Scorpions Celebrate 60 Years in Budapest on 20 June

It’s strange to think that 60 years ago, the young Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker, and Matthias Jabs were still pushing their instruments in wheelbarrows through the streets of Hanover, a city just awakening from the paralysis of World War II.
Over the past six decades, the world has changed tremendously in every sense: the city has been beautifully rebuilt, and Scorpions have become a source of national pride for Germany, just like their famous brands such as Mercedes or BMW.
The godfathers of classic rock have always been open to adventure — and fortunately, the world has welcomed them with open arms: they have played thousands of concerts in all corners of the globe.
In 1988, they became the first Western rock band to play five consecutive sold-out shows in Soviet-era Leningrad, and they were among the first to perform in China and Southeast Asia, opening doors for other Western bands.
The band has also sold more than 100 million records and has been a regular on the world’s most prestigious charts since the beginning — keeping track of their gold certifications is nearly impossible.
Over the decades, bands such as Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, Korn, and System of a Down have covered their songs.
Their mega-hit "Rock You Like a Hurricane" alone has been covered more than 150 times by various artists. This proves that the legacy and influence of Scorpions on rock music are indisputable. Even beyond their 60th anniversary, the members are driven by performing together, touring, and the love of their audience.
Scorpions will celebrate this milestone with their Hungarian fans as well—so everyone should be there on June 20 at their concert in the MVM Dome.
