Budapest mayor István Tarlós has announced plans to renovate the city’s iconic Chain Bridge and remodel Blaha Lujza Square in central Budapest. Speaking at an AmCham event, Tarlós said the Buda Castle tunnel was also a contender for renovation and plans are to revamp the Cog-Wheel railway, extending it to Széll Kálmán Square in one direction and all the way to Normafa Hill in the other.

The renovation of Budapest’s metro 3 under a contract signed on Thursday is scheduled to receive 120 billion forints in European Union funding and 20 billion from the central budget, a government official said.
