Icelandic novelist Jón Kalman Stefánsson and France will be the guests of honour at the 29th Budapest International Book Festival to be held from Sept 26 to 29, organisers announced.

Gül Baba was an Ottoman-Turkish soldier-monk, that is a dervish, who arrived to Buda in the middle of the 16th century and he was buried outside the city limits of then where his honorary monument is also situated.

Educated through the Irish language, he took degrees in English literature, German and Economics, joining Ireland’s diplomatic service in 2008. He is joined in Budapest by his wife, Ailbhe Keating, and daughters, Freja and Sadhbh.
