Tolstoy Square Planned At Buda Site
A public area near the intersection of Németvölgyi út and Bürök utca in the 12th District will be designated a square and named after Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy, Budapest city council decided on Wednesday.

A bust of the author by Moscow sculptor Grigory Potocky will be erected in the square. The sculptor donated the bust to the district.

The statue and square are to be inaugurated in March.

The 13th District council is proposing to make a public space available for a statue of literary critic and Communist politician György Lukács, Index reports.

Budapest city council, which owns the statue of Lukács now in Szent István Park, decided in late January to remove it and erect a statue of King Szent István instead.

The 13th District is also initiating the erection of a statue of Árpád Göncz, president of Hungary in 1990-2000.
