Video Update: David Lynch 'Small Stories' Exhibition @ Műcsarnok
Seen until 2 June. David Lynch: Small Stories, is a photography exhibition that has its’ Central European Premiere here in Hungary (Photo courtesy of Northfoto).

The atmosphere of this unique collection is created by 'the glow of invisible coherences, the surfacing of hidden feelings and the blossoming of unleashed fantasy' say the organisers.

Surrealism, esotery and the American way or visualizing anxiety and violence in an artistic and pop manner – from the legendary Norman Rockwell to contemporary thrillers – had a huge influence on both this series and Mr. Lynch’s overall work. It’s a journey beyond reality we;re told.

The basis for Lynch’s surreal images is the reinterpretation of photomontages, portraits and reproductions. These create such a time-space dimension, that give birth to a universe we are all familiar with from the master’s movies.

The Small Stories collection is a psychedelic journey beyond reality into the world of emotions, humor, playfulness and restlessness, shedding light also on memories and wounds. Just as in his movies, dreams dominate in this series. The intertwinement of subconscious and reality provides the underlying power of its’ poetics.

The series was completed for the Paris photo month, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in 2014, and was only exhibited three times to date.

During the time of the exhibition, there will be a number of exclusive programs and guided tours by well-known experts, all organized by Műcsarnok.
