Voivod last celebrated their 40th anniversary with us, and now they return to their Hungarian fans on July 14 at Analog Music Hall.
The band most recently marked the 40th anniversary of their formation in the Hungarian capital, and instead of choosing retirement, they have continued doing exactly what fans expect from them: tearing up stages around the world like true metal legends.
Voivod was one of the most distinctive and instantly recognizable bands of the ’80s. In addition to their singular sound, the interconnected sci-fi storylines built around their albums form a defining part of the band’s mythology.
Their music has been deeply influenced by the Canadian hardcore punk scene, ’70s progressive rock, and the British new wave of heavy metal. From these elements, they forged a truly original style in which the lyrical themes blend Cold War politics, post-apocalyptic literature, and science fiction.
To date, Voivod has released 15 studio albums, most recently Morgöth Tales, issued for their 40th anniversary. This special concept album revisits the most exciting eras of the band’s career through newly re-recorded songs, alongside a brand-new title track that pays tribute to Voivod’s rich legacy.
The material spans from early thrash, prog, and punk influences to their most complex compositions, perfectly reflecting the band’s more than four decades of creative evolution.
Having overcome numerous challenges, the band brought this material to Budapest in 2023, and they will return once again in 2026. On July 14, they will take the stage at Analog Music Hall, where they are guaranteed to summon some of the most extraordinary moments from over 40 years of Voivod history.
