MNB Foundation To Buy Property In Buda Castle District

The MNB’s Pallas Athene Domus Meriti Foundation has received the green light for the purchase of the state-owned Burg Hotel located in the Castle District, according to a government decree dated December 29.
The decree states that the foundation needs the property in order to expand its scientific, educational and research activities and to develop its financial culture.
The value of the deal was not disclosed, but the value of the historic building under state heritage protection is estimated at Ft 1.6 billion.
Jewish cultural foundation Mazsök sold the property to the state for Ft 615 million in 2019.
The Burg Hotel is also a Unesco World Heritage site, and all of its 26 rooms have picturesque panoramic views of the Danube.
