Detectives Raid Budapest’s 3rd District Council to Investigate Alleged Corruption
Prosecutors have identified ten suspects as they investigate alleged corruption involving the deputy mayor of Óbuda, Budapest’s Third District.

Detectives raided the council offices and several other places on Tuesday.

Deputy mayor Gergő Czeglédy and the head of a council-run company are in custody.

According to the allegation, the CEO of two advertising companies used the companies to pay the deputy mayor more than Ft 100 million to obtain the necessary permits and consent for the maintenance, further use and exploitation of advertising equipment.

Prosecutors allege that, in order to conceal the bribe, the CEO of the advertising companies concluded fictitious contracts with several companies set up for that purpose.

The persons registered as the heads of these companies may be charged as accomplices.
