Huxit Soon? Hungary's Exit from EU 'Closer than Ever', Says Democratic Coalition's Dobrev
Hungary has never been so close to quitting the European Union and joining the Russian sphere, Klara Dobrev, MEP of the opposition Democratic Coalition told an online press conference.

Referring to an announcement by Mate Kocsis, the group leader of ruling Fidesz, on a planned constitutional amendment aimed at creating the conditions for people of dual citizenship to be expelled from Hungary, Dobrev said: "If the government means to pass an amendment like that, Hungary must first quit the European Council," she said, adding that under the European Charter of Human Rights, people holding citizenship of a given country cannot be expelled from that country.

Dobrev suggested that ruling Fidesz was "fabricating an excuse" to leave the European Council, which could be a step towards abandoning the EU.
