Peter Magyar has also asked Krausz to refund 22 billion forints already paid out under the deal signed with the previous government.
According to portal Magyar Hang the agreement under which the cultural ministry is supposed to provide financing to the Frontiers Foundation, was signed less than two months before the recent parliamentary election. The portal added that "theoretically the approval of both parties is needed to change the agreement."
Bence Retvari, parliamentary group leader of the opposition Christian Democrats (KDNP) said in response that the withdrawal of government funding from the foundation "will also thwart the development of a nationwide talent development system."
"This is how you drive scientists out of Hungary," he said on Facebook, adding that the board of trustees of the Frontiers Foundation includes four Nobel laureates.
