Watchdog in Hungary Winds Up Google Ads Phishing Probe
The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) has wound up a probe of Google Ireland over spoofed websites using the name of Hungarian lender MBH Bank, the watchdog said on Tuesday.

The probe, which focused on the mechanisms used to identify and weed out malicious websites, did not produce sufficient evidence to establish any violations, GVH said.

In the course of the probe, Google Ireland said it had immediately suspended a website masquerading as one of MBH Bank's after the phishing was identified.

The company added that it had taken all possible measures to prevent harm to consumers during the period under scrutiny and in future.
