On September 14-16, the U.S. Embassy in Budapest hosted Judy and Dennis Shepard, founders of the Matthew Shepard Foundation. The Shepards dedicate their work to the memory of their son Matthew who was killed in an anti-gay hate crime in 1998 and seek to promote understanding and acceptance through education, outreach and advocacy programs.

A conference was held today at the Balassi Institute in Budapest on the experiences of teaching Hungarian language and culture. Speeches were also made at the event by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Public Administration and Justice Tibor Navracsics and Minister of State for Social Relations Zoltán Kovács.
