The Ludwig Museum of Contemporary Art is launching this year’s exhibitions with a show in homage to Vera Molnar, a French-Hungarian artist, starting on Feb 10, museum director Júlia Fabényi said.

Maros Dance Ensemble: 'Yellow Rose', Hungarian Heritage House, 20 January

Yellow Rose is a novel written in 1892 by Mór Jókai, in which the author goes into great detail regarding the nature and customs of the Hortobágy with the meticulousness of an ethnologist. In the dance performance, the choreographer-director Árpád Könczei and the Maros Dance Ensemble worked on the dramatic plot of this puszta-inspired novel.

Icelandic novelist Jón Kalman Stefánsson and France will be the guests of honour at the 29th Budapest International Book Festival to be held from Sept 26 to 29, organisers announced.

The Hungarian State Opera has announced that it is dedicating its 140th season in 2023-24 to Slavic music, with 14 premieres and 40 works connected to Slavic culture, General Director Szilveszter Ókovács.
Budapest Strings Celebrating Founder With Birthday Concert on 28 December

At the end of December, the Bartók-Pásztory Prize-winning Budapest Strings will pay tribute to their founder and artistic director, Károly Botvay, with a musical tribute. This year's soloist is the internationally acclaimed young cellist Dóra Kokas, a multiple competition winner. The ensemble's concertmaster will once again be János Pilz.
