Reiner Schränkler Appointed Chairman Of Budapest Airport

Reiner Schränkler (46) studied business administration and public administration. Between 1990 and 2005 he worked in investment banking, and was based in London from 1993. He worked for Citigroup between 1997 and 2005. He focused mainly on the construction, engineering, infrastructure, transportation and media sectors.
Mr. Schränkler joined HOCHTIEF in 2005. He is Executive Board member of the HOCHTIEF Concessions AG and as such is responsible for the company’s airport business He is also CEO of the investment partnership HOCHTIEF AirPort Capital GmbH & KGaA (HTAC) and a member of Supervisory Boards of Düsseldorf and Hamburg airports (both belong to the HOCHTIEF AirPort group). From 15th February 2010 he took up the post of Chairman of Budapest Airport.
“It is an honor and also a great challenge to serve as the chairman of such an important company as Budapest Airport,” said Mr. Schränkler shortly after his election. “Last year, even during difficult times for the whole world aviation community, Budapest Airport continued to improve its efficiency and to realize the potential for future development. I am sure that as the main international airport of Hungary, Budapest Airport will contribute both to the development of the country’s economy and the tourism industry.”
At the meeting, two new members were elected to the Board of Budapest Airport; Mr. Csaba Kákosy, former Hungarian Minister of Transport and Mr. Konrad Kreuzer, Chairman of E.ON Hungária Zrt."
