Reasons Hungarian Retailers Against Mandatory Cash Option - Inc "Does Not Apply to Foreigners"
The Retail Association (OKSZ) is asking the government to amend the draft law that requires all retailers to offer the option of cash payment.

The OKSZ argues that there is no public demand for the change, the implementation of the law is not viable, the law imposes unjustified costs on retailers, and that it exposes employees involved in delivery to danger.

According to OKSZ president Tamás Kozák, the forced introduction of cash in food retail could jeopardise the security of supply in micro-regions where there is no real alternative to home delivery.

The draft also puts Hungarian companies at a disadvantage because it does not apply to foreigners, the OKSZ added.

Kozák said the OKSZ only learned of the planned amendment to the law when the government released it for social consultation, and is “puzzled by this style of communication”.
