He made the remark after the Slovak government announced that it will terminate the Slovak citizenship of anyone who applies for Hungarian citizenship.

Balázs said the Hungarian Parliament will have to sit down for negotiations with the af-fected countries and formulate a way that the dual citizenship act can be made acceptable to them.

He noted that six of Hungary’s seven neighbouring countries “have not made any noise”, but as regards Slovakia “we have hit one of the central points of their identity, and their election campaign”, Balázs said, adding that the timing of the passing of the act had therefore been poor."
