Although the police expelled them, the skaters returned illegally after a while. Antal Rogán, mayor of District 5, was the first who decided to look for a solution which is favorable both for the skaters and for the walkers.
The plans for the skating park were created by architects in cooperation with skateboarders who were asked by the local government to take part in the planning process. The skaters accepted happily the solution; they felt that politicians consider their opinion important and take care of them and their hobby.
The local government invested 34 million forints in this project which offers a place of 780 square-meters for the young people to exercise skate-boarding under legal and secure circumstances. The park was opened officially in the end of September.
Also, there are plans for further skating parks in the city, around places, such as Március 15. tér, said Mr. Rogán.
