Fidesz MP Proposes More Cuts To Banking Charges In Hungary
Fidesz lawmaker Szilárd Németh has proposed further cuts to household banking fees. Németh told public radio that he had proposed to Fidesz MPs raising the monthly limit on the free withdrawals and increasing their number from two to four.

Parliament recently approved legislation allowing two free cash withdrawals a month up to a combined 150,000 forints (EUR 490). Banks should be obliged to ensure that it is possible to withdraw at least100,000 forints from all automated teller machines, he said.

He voiced surprise that OTP Bank had recently announced the cancellation of special offers relating to free cash withdrawals, while another seven financial service providers announced plans to raise account fees.

He also said that he had been contacted by cooperatives and condominiums complaining that their banking costs had risen as much as 150%.
