Secret Documents from Hungary's Communist Era Released Collaborators Now in Public Life to Be Published?
The opposition Jobbik party has initiated the publication of the secret service documents of the communist era and a list of collaborators currently in public life, the leader of the party's parliamentary group said.

Laszlo Gyorgy Lukacs told a press conference that he has submitted two proposals to parliament. One proposes granting the public unlimited access to secret service documents drawn up between 1940 and the fall of communism in 1989.

"The Hungarian regime change was ruined, derailed, and real accountability failed to come about," Lukacs said. Hungarian public life must be "cleansed", he said, adding that the publication of those files should be a part of the process in order to put a line under "the defrauded, stolen change of regime".

The other proposal aims to name the people who collaborated with the secret services of the Communist state and went on to become lawmakers in post-communist parliaments.

The list would feature collaborators' names and "the work and tasks completed", Lukacs said.
