Hungary’s PM Orbán Expounds On Refugee Crisis
If the EU does not know how to defend its own borders in Greece, which is the “eastern gateway” to the Balkans, then it should do it at the “western gate” of Hungary and Slovenia, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a speech to the congress of the European People’s Party in Madrid on Thursday. Orbán underlined that Turkey is an important strategic partner, but warned that the continent could become helpless if it always expects others to find a solution.

Stating that the migration crisis could destabilise governments, countries and the entire European continent, he said frank talk is needed to solve the problem, “political correctness must be thrown away and a debate must begin without sanctimoniousness or hypocrisy”.

Orbán reiterated his view, recently expounded at the UN General Assembly in New York, that “what Europe is up against is not a refugee crisis” but an influx of economic migrants, refugees and foreign fighters in an uncontrolled and unregulated process.

While everyone is entitled to the right to human dignity and security, he continued, free choice of domicile is not a basic right. Those who leave their home and leave for Europe are victims, “but this cannot mean that we shall make ourselves victims as well,” he said.
