Charges Raised Against Nigerian Drug Mule In Hungary
Charges have been raised against a 41 year-old Nigerian man who tried to smuggle 101 cocaine capsules in his stomach from Holland to Hungary, the Budapest chief prosecutor said. The suspect living in Budapest’s 15th district was offered 4,000 euros by a Suriname-born Dutch acquaintance for smuggling the total 1,000 grams of drugs to Hungary. He was supposed to deliver the capsules to a Hungarian relative of the client, Tibor Ibolya said.

He travelled from Eindhoven on a low-cost airline to Budapest where tax and excise officers stopped him for a check.

A CT scan revealed the cocaine capsules in his stomach and he was arrested and later placed in pre-trial detention.

Since he had earlier committed a similar crime in Hungary and was on probation, he could now receive a sentence of up to 15 years in jail.

The prosecutor’s office has proposed that he should be expelled from Hungary.
