He said the “obviously unnecessary” referendum is “based on a huge lie,” notably that migrants will invade Hungary.

Pittella said it is a shame that the Hungarian government is impeding any EU decision on relocating asylum seekers “purely for propaganda purposes,” adding that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will go down in history as a politician who blocked the way to solving the crisis in a feasible and fair manner.
