Presidential Residence in Hungary Still Occupied by Novak - But Sulyok Obliged to Move In
Former president Katalin Novak has still not moved out of the presidential residence on Béla Király út in Buda since announcing her resignation on February 10.

Tamas Sulyok became the head of state on March 5.

Relevant legislation says the head of state is not only entitled to the use of the presidential residence, but is obliged to live there.

In reply to queries, Sulyok’s office said he and his family live in the same house as when he was the president of the Constitutional Court, adding “There is no need for more security measures of a different kind than if they lived in a residence on Bela Király út.”

Novak’s office did not respond to questions about when she is going to move out of the 12th District property, and whether she might request a new residence or move back to her previous home.
