Boat Passenger Falls Into Danube, Police File Report Against Him for Hooliganism

A passenger on board the pleasure boat Európa raised himself on to the scaffolding of the Chain Bridge as the ship passed under the structure on Saturday evening but failed to let go before the ship sailed on.

Eventually, he fell into the Danube and was rescued.

Budapest Police confirmed to Telex that they received a report about the incident at 7.35 p.m.

Simultaneously with the report the captain of the pleasure boat reported the matter to the Danube Water Police.

The man was rescued by the crew of a nearby boat and they handed him over to water police.

The man was not injured, nor did he request any medical care. Police filed a report against him for hooliganism.
