70,000 Foreigners Worked in Hungary Last Year - 20,000 Via Staffing Agencies
According to Central Statistics Office data, a total of 70,000 foreigners worked in Hungary in the middle of 2022, up by 20% from a year earlier.

A total of 19,659 foreign workers were employed through temporary staffing agencies in 2022, state secretary Levente Magyar said in response to a written query from Democratic Coalition MP Lajos Oláh.

However, the state secretary did not give a breakdown by county, as requested by the MP, although data in such a breakdown is certainly available, HVG writes.

A change in regulations last summer simplified the employment of foreigners through employment agencies, but this is not the only way for guest workers to find employment in Hungary.

Temporary employment agencies which meet certain requirements are allowed to recruit workers from outside the EU for professions with a labour shortage and to employ them in Hungary without the need to obtain further permits.
