Ministry Withdraws Ukrainian Corn from Hungarian Market
The Agriculture Ministry announced on Wednesday that it has imposed restrictions on or ordered the destruction of more than 29 tons of Ukrainian corn.

The ministry promised in February that it would subject imported Ukrainian grain to a strict inspection. According to yesterday’s announcement, toxin was found in three cases and GMO contamination also in three cases.

Ministry experts also checked the storage conditions, the possible presence of warehouse pests and the transparency of transports.

In addition, the inspection revealed that the quality of the Ukrainian wheat flour was substandard.

Farmers in Hungary and other countries in the region have complained that the influx of Ukrainian grain destined in principle for the Middle East and Africa has lowered prices on local markets.
