It is “scandalous” that Ukraine has placed OTP Bank on its list of “international sponsors of war”, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said in Stockholm on Friday, adding that until that is withdrawn, it will be “very difficult” for the Hungarian government to negotiate about further sanctions.
The Hungarian president said in an interview published by economic portal Portfolio.hu on Saturday that the values of the countries in the Balkans were European values and “their culture is European culture”.
The Council of the European Union on Friday adopted legislation on Hungary’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) plan and the conditionality mechanism, as well as on an 18 billion euro aid for Ukraine and the global minimum corporate tax.
European Union member states “listened to Hungary’s arguments” and approved the country’s recovery plan which is expected to lead to the unblocking of recovery funding, Justice Minister Judit Varga said in Brussels on Tuesday.
