EV Charging Network in Hungary Upgraded with Smarter System
- 11 Aug 2025 10:26 AM
The company says all EDRI charging stations now feature E.ON’s updated brand identity, making them easier to spot and giving the network a more consistent appearance.
Behind the scenes, the backend system has been fully replaced to provide faster, more reliable performance and support new digital services. Connector names and icons have also been redesigned to be clearer and more user-friendly.
One of the most notable changes is the introduction of ad hoc payments via QR code at all charging stations. Before starting a session, drivers can scan the code on the charger to open a secure online payment page and begin charging without creating an account.
For direct current (DC) chargers — both fast and ultrafast — it’s now also possible to pay directly with a bank card using the terminal built into the charger.
According to E.ON, this on-site payment method can sometimes offer better rates than using mobile apps, since transactions are made directly with the operator rather than through a third-party platform. The company has launched the service with introductory discounts and promotions.
In Hungary, EDRI currently operates 418 charging points, including 78 with a capacity of 300 kW. The new ad hoc payment system is now available nationwide at all locations.
Part of the E.ON Group, EDRI manages over 7,100 public charging points across 11 European countries, including Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Poland, the UK, the Czech Republic, Italy, Romania, the Netherlands, and Hungary.
