Hungarian firefighters faced freezing conditions on Tuesday, January 13, to rescue a dog that had fallen into icy water. The incident occurred amid a severe winter cold snap affecting much of the country.
HungaroMet, the national weather service, has withdrawn its 2nd degree (orange) alerts issued on Tuesday for freezing rain in Budapest and other parts of the country. The weather service, has however, maintained a first-degree alert for some areas in south-eastern Hungary, where further, scattered sleet is expected.
Hungary is experiencing its coldest and snowiest winter since 2012, according to meteorological website Időkép.
A free light park, unique in the country, and a diverse range of festive programs, including several free events, await families in the City Park during the Advent period.
