VAT Rate Reduced in Hungary on Beef
Parliament cleared a reduction in the VAT rate for beef from 27pc to 5pc in a vote on Tuesday. MPs approved the measure with a vote of 115 for, none against and 56 abstentions.

The legislation also allows purchases of food in supermarkets using the SZEP voucher card from December 1, 2025 until April 30, 2026.

Meanwhile, lawmakers ban cultured meat

MPs approved legislation banning the commercial production and sale of cultured meat in a vote on Tuesday.

The ban, which makes exceptions for cultured meat for medical or veterinary purposes, was approved with a vote of 140 for, 10 against and 18 abstentions.

Lawmakers drafted the legislation because of "potential risks as well as to protect sustainable production in the farm sector, traditional forms of rural life and human health".
