The 30th anniversary edition of the event gives expats the opportunity to try a range of restaurants around the country which will provide specially created, mostly three-course menus at fixed prices.

Participating restaurants are divided into different price categories, with menus starting at HUF 6,900, while Premium menus start at HUF 8,900 and Exclusive menus at HUF 10,900, with service charge included. At Costes, the Michelin-starred menu will cost HUF 17,900.

Costes, one of Hungary’s best-known fine-dining restaurants, is the first Michelin-starred restaurant to join National Restaurant Week. The Costes Group says its participation aims to make high-level dining more accessible and to challenge the idea that Michelin-starred cuisine is necessarily reserved for a limited clientele.

The restaurant line-up extends well beyond Hungarian fine dining. Twenty participating restaurants have an international Michelin recommendation, with their menus covering a broad range of cuisines, including French and Italian cooking, as well as dishes inspired by Lebanese, Georgian, Indian, Japanese, Mexican and Moroccan traditions.

Menus feature ingredients including Argentine beef tenderloin, Angus beef, lamb chops, foie gras, lobster, octopus, bluefin tuna, pheasant and Burgundian snails. 

Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free options are also available at a number of participating restaurants.

Although called Restaurant Week, the event runs for 18 days, reflecting strong demand for the programme. Reservations can be made exclusively online through the official Restaurant Week website.
