Hungary To Spend HUF 53bn On Water Management Before 2020

Hungary will spend a total of 53 billion forints (EUR 167m) on tasks related to water management in the next five years, a deputy state secretary of the cabinet said. Addressing an event on the occasion of National Irrigation Day, Dávid Mezei said that the sum was part of 1,250 billion forints (EUR 3.9bn) in European Union funding for Hungary’s rural development programmes between 2014-2020.

Hungary’s summer festivals are receiving a total of nearly 500 million forints (EUR 1.6m) state support this year, an official of the Ministry of Human Resources said. State secretary Bence Rétvári told a press conference that the Sziget Festival in Budapest, the Volt Festival in Sopron in western Hungary and the Balaton Sound festival are getting a combined 150 million forints (EUR 476,000).
