Early Career Doctor Salaries To Be Raised In Hungary

The wages of doctors in the early stages of their careers will be raised from January next year to come to about 270,000 forints (EUR 870) net a month, the health-care state secretary said. After taking their specialty certification exams, doctors no longer receive a scholarship and this reduces their earnings, Gábor Zombor told public news channel M1. Under a new decree, doctors with a specialisation will receive a monthly 151,000 forint supplement to their wages for at least five years, he said.
Teachers who supervise young doctors during their medical residencies will also receive an extra 50,000 forints a month.
As of July the state will take over from hospitals all costs of training resident doctors, which amounts to about 4 billion forints a year, Zombor said.
Hospitals will be able to use these savings for other purposes, for instance to hike pay, he added.
