The construction of a storage facility for spent fuel from the Paks nuclear power plant could increase the costs of the planned enlargement of the plant by half, the daily Népszabadság said. Parliament is discussing a resolution on permanent disposal of spent nuclear fuel in the country. So far such waste from Paks has been delivered to Russia.

Police will carry out a nationwide operation called ‘Sober Easter’ from Thursday to Monday to monitor the roads for drunk and erratic driving. National Police head of department József Óberling said during a similar operation last year, some 26,000 checks found 600 drunk drivers, a rate of 2.2%. Alcohol consumption played a part in 10% of the accidents last year, he said.
